The Rookies Bedroom Project Reveal | The Reno Race

Pearson + Project The Rookies Reno Race - 4.jpg

The Reno Race Rookies, Dan and Claire had a project on their hands when it came to their master bedroom and the temporary guest bedroom (which will hopefully be a nursery one day - no pressure). The rookies nailed the brief to create a space that is all about comfort with touches of their own personality and style.

Create Comfort

The comfort factor was incredibly important to the rookies – they plan to be in their house long term so they wanted a space that was warm and practical.

When it came to their carpet, Claire wanted it to feel good not just look good. Carpet Court have a great range called Malmo, that is on trend AND affordable. The rookies went for the underlay upgrade, selecting an underlay that provides extra insulation and noise reduction, as well as making your carpet super soft underfoot. To learn more about carpet selection, see our HOW TO blog.

Because the rookies have large windows in both bedrooms, they wanted blinds that’d provide the most privacy, insulation and light control. They went for white fabric roller blinds from Bargain Blinds that would blend into the window frames and create clean lines.

Add Personality

The rookies have kept a strong colour scheme of black, white and greys throughout the house. The bedrooms are a great chance to add some colour and have a point difference from the rest of the house.

In the guest bedroom the hero is the divine King Protea print by Wallflower. The stunning print sets the tone of the space. To compliment the soft pinks and creams, I used pastel colours throughout the linen and added texture through the cushions and floor rug.

In the Master Bedroom was after a darker colour scheme with some luxury and elegance. The rookies went for a statement lighting piece that is very unique to this room. The velvet navy headboard is the perfect backdrop to the colourful linen and cushions. It’s a win with the bold colour selections and layering (I feel like a Block judge!)
